November 18 & 19, 2011

Philadelphia City Paper describes the company—who often performs to sold-out audiences—as “simply marvelous,” and The Philadelphia Inquirer says, “If you like your dancing hard, fast, and intense, then Koresh Dance Company is for you...liquidly sensual...clean, expressive gestures...there’s a sheer physical joy to this allegrismo execution...”

Contemporary Dance Theater welcomes Koresh Dance Company in a presentation of their new work, Sense of Human. The company is known for its passion, technical prowess, and energy, and is led by Israeli-born choreographer, Ronen Koresh.

Ronen (Roni) Koresh’s new work, Sense of Human, depicts life in its purest, rawest, most guttural state. This work delves beneath people's desired self images to discover their true sense of humanity. In collaboration with Roni, composer Greg Smith has created an original score for Sense of Human.

World-renowned for its powerful stage presence and high-energy style, Koresh Dance has been hailed as an extraordinary and vital force in the dance world. The company combines an exciting blend of ballet, modern and jazz styles to create choreography that is both eloquent and explosive.

In Sense of Human, Koresh uses simple, honest gestures combined with original music and poems to tell the beautiful story of human emotion, from the tragically dramatic to slapstick comedy, with the moves of the dance changing drastically with the mood of the show.
