TUMBLING/ACROBATICS FOR DANCE
This class will focus on basic tumbling and acrobatic skills that can be used in dance styles of Modern Dance, Hip Hop, or Musical Theater Dance. Students will start with fundamentals and progress at their own pace in developing strength and flexibility. Level 1 is a beginner level class for new students, and Level 2 is for students who are still working on fundamentals as well as variations on the fundamentals. This class will focus on proper technique and control; this is not a class to work on "flips" or advanced tricks. For ages 7 & up; teens and adults may also register, for beginners and advanced beginners. Recommended to wear: leotard and/or a tight shirt with bike shorts or yoga pants and bare feet. Student may also want to bring their own yoga mat.
MODERN FOR KIDS
Students will learn and practice Modern Dance technique, including floor, center, and across the floor fundamental. This class would be appropriate for kids interested in Modern Dance, Contemporary Dance, or basic dance technique that includes movement on the floor. Beginning dancers as well as students with some dance experience are welcome. Recommended to wear: leotard and/or a tight shirt with bike shorts or yoga pants and bare feet.
INTRODUCTION TO BALLET & MODERN DANCE
This class will introduce your child to the fundamentals of Ballet and Modern. Emphasis will be on developing proper technique, improving strength and flexibility, and increasing dance vocabulary. Students will have an opportunity to utilize their imagination and creativity through various dance games and activities. No previous experience is necessary. Students may wear dance clothes, such as leotard and tights, or any clothes they can move in comfortably (no jeans). Ballet slippers or bare feet only (socks or footed tights are too slippery on the floor).
SHAKE & CREATE
In this class, your child will be introduced to creative movement and dance. Your child will have an opportunity to jump, shake, spin and wiggle, while using their imagination! Fundamentals of dance, including ballet, will be explored with developmentally appropriate movement. Students may wear dance clothes, such as leotard and tights, or any clothes they can move in comfortably (no jeans). Ballet slippers or bare feet only (socks or footed tights are too slippery on the floor).
BALLET FOR KIDS
This Ballet class is open to girls and boys ages 8-12. Barre and center exercises will be taught and practiced, as students learn proper technique and ballet vocabulary. Musicality, stretching and muscle strengthening will be emphasized. New students are welcome. Dance clothes are preferred, such as leotard and tights, but any clothes they can move in comfortably are fine (no jeans). Ballet slippers are preferred, but bare feet is also fine if you do not have ballet slippers (socks or footed tights are too slippery on the floor).
HIP HOP FOR KIDS
This hip hop class is open to beginners and experienced dancers, ages 8-12. Musicality and rhythm will be a focus as dancers learn & practice the foundations of hip hop. This will help them master all their favorite steps. They’ll also learn how to move across the floor and will learn short combinations. Students will also be able to work on freestyle technique, encouraging their own unique talents and creativity. (not currently offered for Spring 2020)
